Here is the re-produced model; the model is consisting of the open spaces and the ramps forming the masses. The masses are positioned with parallel to the spine and also perpendicular to the spine. We had finalized the semester. See you on the new one!

Now, everything comes to an end; and it is time to present our work of whole semester. The design now is come to a conclusion. We redo our model and also draw elevations and sections.

Our main idea while starting the project is to revive the old fabric of Servi Street. While doing so, the street is now more than a line on the ground; with the help of the ramps it goes up and also go through the designed masses. The path then, also resized and formed upper open public spaces. Around those public spaces we had commercial units which are spread all over the masses. The paths are forming a network system which creates also the life of the residents and the visitors of the site.

The spine of Servi Street and the vertical street(three dimensioning of the street which works like a vertical street) which grows in parallel to the masses. There is also formation of open common spaces for the use of residentials. There are differentiated from public spaces with a different network of circulation. So, the public spaces and the common spaces are having a visual connection and spatial connection but not having a direct link.

We designed housing units which are varied from each other by adding new function to the unit. The units are for different amount of people and also have a combined function of being a housing and commercial unit.(adding extra sleeping spaces, extra working spaces)

The facades have different characteristic. The one facing the street is based on the combination of the units with varied quality of permeable surface(glass) and the solid surfaces. (concrete) It has its own rhythm and spatial quality with different lighting quality. The one facing other masses is facing south so it has pivot wooden surfaces sliding which can be adjusted to the different sun characteristics.

For the third prejury we also focused on the landscape design. Then we introduced new open spaces which are common spaces. There are for the use of the residentials of the site. (they are shown with orange) So we also try to balance the interrelation of public and common spaces. We also draw the partial ground floors and the underground formation (parking spaces)

For the prejury, we produced different housing units for different users, the units varies by adding new function to each other. (like adding working spaces). And we draw some elevations showing the interrelation between public spaces and common spaces. There are sharing same open spaces adjacent to each other.

As getting critics on and on, our design has developed, too. The way we show how Servi Street processed and now in this model it is more obvious. Servi showed with red, also forms spaces on most levels, so the commercial activities were spread through the site. So, the commercial character of the site can bee seen, forming terraces and open spaces penetrating through the masses.

The secondary masses of the design were attaching directly to the spine, so it can also create problematic areas, in this model, we were starting to differentiate those part by separating them. The model is work in progress, so it will evolve for the second jury.

For the first jury, we were starting to search for ways to enhance the community life. We, as Janus Architecture, decided to achieve it through enhancing the communal interaction by developing the common and public spaces of the site. Servi Street used to be an important street of Ankara which leads itself to Ankara Castle. So, we thought we can revive the old fabric of the street; make it great, important again, working like an important social space. So, Servi Street is the spine of our design and it is more then just an horizontal street. It is more like a system of circulation for the public use; it is both a horizontal and vertical street. So, while Servi gets its three-dimensionality, it also forms our public spaces. Then the mass of our design formed itself accordingly. So, the design has different masses working with the same Servi public influence on different levels.

As the studio, we made the site model of considering our site and its surroundings. The site model is scaled 1/500.

This semester we were given a site near to our school.(near Kolej Area) The area contains 528 flats, we examined the function of the commercial buildings, the transportation system of the site and so forth.

As a case study, we were asked to analyze the current Mass Housing Projects in Turkey. It is about to research what kind of architectural program they are offering, their scale, their spatial relations and so forth. So, we were given Sinpaş Altın Oran, Toki Cases, Kuzu Effect, One tower etc. We investigated their common points and also their differences. So, one of my colleagues designed those posters which reflects our point of view and observations about the given topic.
