Final Jury

Well, This is it!! The big day in which we will  going to have jury experience while explaining our design ideas and showing our models. We prepared an orthographic set and also an axonometric drawing for the jury. In addition we produced a poster in which we explain specifically our design ideas.

Thematic Variation: Variation // 3

Thematic variation comes from the combination of our given themes and variaton 2. So we had to keep our previous design but we have to mix it with themes.

Prejury Experience

This is my very first time being in front of a jury so I don’t have any experiences from the past. Jury listens to you while you are trying to explain yourself and your models. That was an exciting experience. 🙂

We perpared diagrams and we put our drawing behind us. We also put our model in front of us and explained our whole process.

A Break with the Theme

Well, we worked a lot! We can consider this assignment rather relaxing. It is something new that we are going to work on. We were given two random theme (by random, I of course mean according to design 🙂 ). Mines are transparency and infiltrated. After having a quick reasearch about the themes, we produce some conceptual model.

Variation // 2

With this assignment we were expected to merge our two previous model in oder to a design decision. To accomplish such duty, we shift our grids and form a whole new grid. We had already have the operations of addition, branching and rotation; but now we will also use eliminate and stretch. These operations helps us to form different volumes and relate different parts our model. So, we will examine the new potentials of the new task.

Variation // 1

We produce a variation of structural frame model by usin planar element which allow us to explore different characteristic of a design. We find new potentials of planar elements.

Drawing the Structural Frame

We produce an orthographic set of drawing which is composed of three different views of our project.

Three Planes

We have 3 operations: copy, extend, extrude. We will define a unit and apply those action to that unit in order to obtain 3 planes. Then, we should be intersecting them according to a design idea which is shown on a diagram.

Structural Frame

After watching a video about poetry and its analysis we were given an assignment; the objective is observe and make structural analysis of a small-scale production. I chose a process of production of a small pinned accessory.* I also create a flow chart about my chosen process.

Then, there is another sub-assingment,too. We are expected to produce a sturctural frame in which changes, rhythm, variations, repetitions and ruptures should be involved in a close loop.

Finally, we were give a new strategy; SCALING! This is a new presented design operation. We should use this operation in order to emphasize some parts.

The Light Box

According to our early work about abstracted trees and their spatial relationships that we observed on tracing papers, we produce a 3D model. We applied the abstract spatial relations already discovered to our model. Then, we change placement of elements in our model in order to achieve light and shadow and depth of field.

We use light box to obtain photos of our model in a more proper way.
